So Close!

I can’t believe that after 2 hours of football it can come down to one point! For someone not really into sport, I loved today’s AFL grand final. To ‘kick off’* the long weekend, we invited a few friends round for a lazy Saturday afternoon. After kebabs on the barbie, we watched the game on a great home theatre system – so it was surround sound sadness for the Swans supporters, and widescreen winning for the West Coasters.

*I know it’s a bounce down, not a kick off…

Soph thought the West Coast Eagles were far cuter than the Sydney swans.

And yet so far!! :) That game was the first I had ever actually felt worried in case the Swans beat the West Coast Eagles. I think I must be turning into an Eagles Supporter! Yikes! We had the game up on the big screen and had about half and half supporters of each – very fun here in Perth. I don’t think we’ll here the end of it ever! Perth is pretty serious about their AFL.

We watched the medal presentation and we could tell whose mothers raised them right or who weren’t so puffed up with their own glory – only about half the team actually acknowledged the cute little kids who gave them their medals – the rest ignored them and probably crushed the poor kids’ hearts. So some of the players who were considered cute, Soph, actually became not so cute after that!

Yeah we were commenting about that too. These poor little kids – they put their hands out for a shake – left hanging. Ouch.

so close is right. Quite disappointing but not the end of the world. It was still great to be there :)
