Where’s my Rudd money?

By SamR

My open letter to the Labour Government:

Dear Mr Rudd,

I was delighted to hear that Parliament approved of your decision to give Soph and I a free handout of $950. Your confidence in our ability to use this money to save the economy is not unfounded. You can be assured that we will do our bit for Australia!

In our economic strategising, we have decided that the most judicious way to turn back the dark tides of financial disaster would be to spend most of this money in the fiscal wasteland that is Batmanland over the weekend 20-21st March.

Should you wish to avoid the financial apocolypse, It would be prudent of your account managers to ensure that the money is in our hands before that time, so that we can implement our ingenious plans.

Yours sincerely,

Sam Russell

Have you got your Rudd money yet?

I thought the money for workers would be distributed in April – money for families comes before that. My husband and I are taking a post-thesis holiday to the Blue Mountains in June. Our Rudd money will fund a lovely self-contained cottage for a week. Hurrah!

  2. bonnie says:

Yep, it’s not coming through until April.

And it’s $900, not $950 now. You can thank the Greens and Independants for that one.

  3. drew says:

yes, but they’re spending the $50 on bike racks and paths.

    Go bikes!

  4. geoffc says:

we got ours! and we also go a letter saying that centrelink had been underpaying us, so we got quite a bit of back pay. Combine that with the baby bonus on the way….we’re goin to Mexico!

  5. onlinesoph says:

I am convinced geoff a baby is our meal ticket out of here.

We did the maths – we are only marginally better off with me working and sam studying (sam recieves no payments) than if we recieved austudy, rent assistance, baby bonus and rudd money. hmmm.

  6. onlinesoph says:

I am only joking about the meal ticket comment, by the way…

  7. SamR says:

$50 each on bike paths? Wow, that’s like $40 million! I’d want it to be like an air-conditioned Bike ‘super-highway’ for that kind of money!
Wasn’t there some money for the murray river or something?

  8. geoffc says:

lol. we have a very GENEROUS government for families. Including my student minister wage, we have about 700 to live off each week.

  9. geoffc says:

joking? Why do you think we’re going through the pain of sleepless nights again…

    Mehico!

  10. SamR says:

Seriously?? Wow. I gotta get me a baby or two! :)

  11. Generous government?
    Free money?

    ??

    :)

  12. Sophie says:

I’ve been wondering where the money was too – starting to worry I don’t qualify. But now reassured that workers don’t get their dosh till April. PHEW.

Ahh to spend it on a holiday… car costs it is for me.

    Hmm babies ay?

  13. The hard working tax-payer (God bless you) gave us the baby bonus for our boy even though he was born in New York City.
